Can I use more than one Fitbit device with the same account?

Adding more than one Fitbit device to your account gives you the convenience of switching between devices while still seeing a holistic view of your daily activity on your dashboard.

You may want to:

  • Wear a smaller device for all-day step counting and a larger device for workouts.
  • Switch between a discreet, clip-based tracker and a convenient, wrist-based device.
  • Use MobileTrack if you forget your Fitbit device at home.
  • Switch between any devices you like. Your account can have one of each device model and MobileTrack.

Note that you can't connect multiple devices that use the Fitbit Gallery to one account. For Fitbit Charge 3, Fitbit Charge 4, Fitbit Charge 5, Fitbit Ionic, Fitbit Inspire series, Fitbit Luxe, Fitbit Sense, and Fitbit Versa series, only connect one of these devices to your account at a time.

To set up an additional device, see How do I set up my Fitbit device?

ClosedIf I have more than one Fitbit device will I have multiple dashboards?

To provide you with the most useful information possible, your account has one dashboard that displays a comprehensive view of your activity. When you use multiple devices, we combine their data and present the totals. For example, if the tracker you wore to the office counted 8000 steps and the tracker you wore during your evening run counted 9000, the total number of steps on your dashboard is 17,000.

ClosedCan I wear more than one Fitbit device at the same time?

If you have more than one device paired to the same account and you forget to take one off before putting on another, we'll reconcile the overlapping data to present the most accurate information possible on your dashboard. For example, if one of your trackers is using GPS and another is not, your dashboard chooses the GPS data when calculating total distance since GPS provides a more accurate distance measurement than step counting alone. However, the more overlapping data that exists on your account, the more likely it is that your dashboard's accuracy will suffer. For best results, don't wear more than one device at a time and sync each device before taking it off and putting on another.

Create a separate account for each device if you want to wear more than one device at the same time.

ClosedCan two people use the same account?

Only one person can use an account. When you create a Fitbit account you're asked for personal information, such as height and weight, so that certain data is calculated correctly. For example, your height determines your distance measurement. Setting up unique accounts ensures that each person's dashboard provides an accurate picture of daily activity. If give your device to another person, they must create a new account.

ClosedHow do notifications work if I have more than one phone?

If you have more than one phone, such as one for work and one for personal use, it's not possible for one Fitbit device to receive notifications from both phones. Setting up notifications creates a bond between your Fitbit device and the phone, and a Fitbit device can only be bonded to one phone. You can disable notifications on one phone and set them up on another.
